I have been teaching for over 20 years in both family daycare and preschool center settings. I'm currently director qualified for the state of Kansas. I have my CDA credential. I am working towards national accreditation through NAFCC and have been nominated for childcare provider of the year. I have volunteered as a childcare director for displaced children and sat as vice president of children's services for FRETSA, which is an organization that helps displaced families. I have written and received grants to help those that are food insecure and ensure children of the community have food over summer break. I have a deep passion for helping others.I am married with 3 wonderful children and 2 grandchildren.. We love to travel, camp, and explore together as a family. 

​​Teaching Philosophy

​I believe high quality preschool is based on knowledge of child development. Children are constantly growing and changing, and understanding these changes are important in helping guide a child through the stages of their life. Children learn through play. By using all their senses and exploring the world around them, they will lead themselves to new discoveries and new found knowledge. I like to use play as a sort of therapy and allow children to express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns through this play, whether it be dramatic or manipulative. I like to implement child guided learning and teach topics of interest to students while injecting in important math and literacy skills. Learning can and should be fun! I aim to help families meet their child's intellectual, social, and emotional needs to help lay a foundation for future development. The skills they learn in preschool will help them grow and continue to learn through their lives.

I have been assisting in both family daycare and preschool classrooms for 6 years. I was an assistant teacher for a kindergarten class in Garnett for the 2017/2018 school year. I have been a babysitter for a great family for 4 years. I really enjoy playing with kids and helping them learn new things. I am currently working as a social worker and enjoy helping children. I am married and am the mother of 2 great children.
